Monday Real Estate Market Myth: Tax Deductions

Myth: A homeowner can deduct all property taxes on their taxes.

False: As the 2012 tax season approaches, homeowners need to be aware of their tax deductions.  Taxpayers can deduct all their ad velorem property taxes, but cannot include miscelaneous charges from the county or city.  Tax bills that fund the community events do not actually improve the property physically, although they may increase value.  A great way to find out what is deductible from your tax assesment is to click the link on the real estate tax deduction.  Talk to your CPA for further information, but if you need a tax deduction contact local real estate agent in the Hollister, San Juan, Aromas, Gilroy, Salinas, Monterey, or other area, Kristen Jurevich at 831.635.6719.
